Sphere.core
Industrial glass tissues material
Sphere.core is a flat material made of glass tissues, which are volumised through the embedding of thermoplastic microspheres.
The basic material however consists of glass fibers. Together with the external top layers, the material consequently contributes to a significantly improved laminate homogeneity. The “print blocking” characteristics are also better. Wet tear resistance is lower than with sphere.core SP, which is why impregnation in the mould is recommended for processing. sphere.core S allows particularly good surfaces of the shaped GRP component.
Because of the glass fiber base material, sphere.core is superior to the polyester version in almost all technical parameters. The impregnation and deearation characteristics are particularly good and the shaped component surfaces are excellent.
In this regard, sphere.core is also superior to the corresponding competitive products on polyester bases. spheretex gmbh is the only producer of such a type of glass fiber based core material suitable for laminating and draping.

Application:
Sphere.core is basically used wherever sphere.core SP is used, but the polyester quality is preferred if good laminate homogeneity, better physical parameters and especially good surfaces are required.

Processing:
Sphere.core is processed by hand-layup like classic chopped strand mats or woven rovings. Impregnation should preferably be done in the mould. It must be ensured that the material is impregnated until fully saturated. UP resin is mostly used, the styrene content of which softens the material after impregnation and allows crease-free processing of even complicated shapes.
However, vinyl ester, PU, acrylic, epoxy or phenolic resins can also be used.
A special feature of sphere.core is that jointless joining or overlapping of material is possible after the material structure has been softened through the contact with styrene, in that the material edges can be plasticised and rolled out without any transition using the air usual roller.
